Hi there! My name is Jack and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I was initially drawn to therapy as a career because I have always been interested in stories. I have a natural curiosity that drives me to understand how other humans, as well as myself, understand our own experiences and how we shape our own life narratives from those experiences.  As a queer and trans person, I believe that sharing our own stories of queer and trans experience is a crucial way to create ongoing connections within our community, as well as, to help facilitate healing individually and within relationships.

Growing up queer and trans in a small, rural community without LGBTQ+ folks to look to has deeply informed how I approach therapy. I endeavor to create a safe and open therapeutic space that allows for identity exploration in all forms. I gravitate towards a narrative and solution-focused approach in most of my work, and often utilize aspects of Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).

I believe that therapy can be a way for people to access both the internal and external resources they need to flourish. My hope is that through therapy my clients can feel empowered to own their stories and in doing so create deeper connections to others.  I am passionate about being able to create a space where LGBTQ+ folks can gather and witness their own growth and successes.  I can’t imagine how meaningful that would have been to me as a teen, and my dream would be that no queer or trans child grows up feeling alone ever again. Because of this, the majority of my clinical experience has been focused around supporting queer, trans, and gender non-conforming youth and their families.

Additionally, I love working with couples and pre-marital counseling. I find that working with couples allows for creativity within therapy and unique chances for couples to grow relationally.

Outside of the office I spend most of my time reading (currently obsessed with queer horror), watching Survivor re-runs with my fiancé, and adoring my cats Ophie and Fred. I am an avid gardener, though about halfway through each planting season I abandon the plans I have made and throw seeds around the garden haphazardly. This results in many beautiful accidents as well as well-fed neighborhood birds. I hope to someday fill my office with homegrown flowers!
