Spencer Uemura, LCSW

Through a social justice lens, I accompany people on their journey to a more grounded and liberated life by exploring how our intersecting identities and cultural experiences have led to the ways we are hurt, but also hold the keys to how we heal. For my clients, these layers of oppression may result in anxiety, depression, and racial identity concerns. We'll work together to process your experience, draw out your strengths, and support your goals.

I love working with Asian American adults, and other POC, to connect the impacts of history, oppression, and culture on mental health and wellbeing. In addition to anxiety, depression, and racial trauma, I also assist clients who are exploring relationship issues, men's issues, life transition, spiritual/religious transition, and navigating new parenthood.

In session, I draw from narrative, compassion-focused, embodied, and anti-oppressive approaches as well as my own lived experience of marginalization. If your cultural experience has been left out of therapy in the past, I can be a good fit. I have received training in approaches such as psychoanalysis, CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, and somatic experiencing.

I'm looking forward to connecting with you!
